The prestigious Dr. Walter Milton Excellence and Achievement 2024 Scholarship, presented by the Black History 365 Education Foundation, recognizes outstanding students who demonstrate exceptional merit and academic achievement. Eligible candidates must have been accepted into a college or university and declared a major in business, STEM, or medical fields. To retain this esteemed annual award, recipients are required to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5. Furthermore, the scholarship is designed to support students throughout their educational journey, extending its benefits to those who choose to pursue graduate studies. Dr. Milton eloquently expresses the foundation's commitment, stating, “We are truly honored to serve the young people of this Great Nation,” underscoring the scholarship’s mission to empower the next generation of leaders and innovators.
Our 2024 Recipients
Zaniya Battle, a native of Rocky Mount, NC, and raised in Enfield, NC, graduated as Valedictorian from Halifax County Early College in 2022 while earning an Associate of Arts degree from Halifax Community College. Currently a senior at East Carolina University majoring in Biology (Pre-Dental) with a minor in Business Administration, she also tutors middle school math at Enfield Middle STEAM Academy, bridging educational gaps for students. Aspiring to become an orthodontist, Zaniya has a long-standing connection with the GHCI Summer STEAM Camp, where she transitioned from a participant in 2017 to a junior counselor in 2018 and 2019, and now serves as a counselor. Her extensive experience working with children showcases her ability to connect and create engaging, positive environments that foster learning and enjoyment.
My name is Gary Hester, I am currently a sophomore majoring in Animal Science at Prairie View A&M University. I have many passions including animals, cooking, music, and nature. I aim to become a wildlife veterinarian and contribute to animal conservation and sustainable agriculture.
